Point Lookout is the largest expansion for Fallout 3 to be released so
far, and offers the player a chance to explore an entirely different
part of the post apocalyptic world.
Set along the coast from the
DC Wasteland, the DLC takes place in a vast swampland, complete with
inbred swampdwellers who reminded me vastly of several very bad horror
movies set in the everglades. There are several quests to
complete as well as numerous bad guys and more information about the
historic America/Chinese conflict which resulted in the nuclear
apocalypse.
You also meet some hippies, and there's a clue or two about the Robobrains that we all know and like to shoot!
Several
new items are added to the game with this DLC, as well as new perks and
to be perfectly honest I enjoyed this expansion far more than any of
the earlier ones.
It integrates very well with the original
game, and in fact one of the quests will take you to a part of the DC
Wasteland that before now only made sense to reader of HP Lovecraft,
but which has now been altered to fit into the Fallout 3 ideom.
The
usual Good, Bad and Indifferent courses of action are all present and I
will go back at a later day and explore the two which I didn't follow.
This
DLC comes with the highest rating so far as it offers completely new
quests, characters, storylines, map and general feel to the game. It
was like a breath of fresh swampy air to the grinding relentless
bleakness of the previous DLC's.
It is of course available from MS Games Live using their ill concieved points system for 800 points.
