The TGT Reviews are intended as a game guide written for gamers, by gamers.

Reviews include information about the history and background of a game or sequel, commercial information and system requirements where available as well as an evaluation of the graphics, sound, music and the replay value of the game.

All games are scored out of 50 for Graphics, Sound & Music, Gameplay, Replay Value and Controls, with the Controls score reflecting not just the configuration of keys and mouse, but also how the game handles.

Call of Duty - World at War PDF Print E-mail

This highly anticipated and highly hyped game hit our shelves recently and promised new heights of gaming and a rejuvenation of the over visited World War 2 period.

Many people played the beta and went on to get the full retail version, I was one of them.
CoD5
Sad to say I am somewhat disappointed, this game is neither innovative nor particularly new but appears to simply be a highly modified Call of Duty 4. New player skins, new weapons new maps but the same feel, if slightly slower paced.

The maps are significantly larger in many cases and are all absolutely beautiful, I found myself sat watching the waterfalls and pools on one map with sheer joy as the atmosphere was truly reminiscent of the sub-tropics.

The game has the usual CoD multiplayer variations, for example Death Match, Team Death Match, and the rest, with the added availability of a locally hosted (on a players machine) Co-Operative mode in which up to four players can play through the single player side of the game, or fight the ever so historically accurate Nazi zombie hordes.

The Co-Op mode has been presented as an exciting new method of development, but sadly is about as new as the Original version of Doom.
CoD5
The single player side of the game is an exception to the well trod track of this game, with a well told storyline interspersed with excellent cinematics and overall good game play.

Die Hard fps fans and clan players who enjoyed CoD 4 will enjoy this game, it has all of the aspects of CoD 4 that made that game excellent for clan matches. The server software supports up to 32 players, and there is an inbuilt auto balance to make sure that teams are not stacked.

As I stated earlier, I am disappointed with this game as it has all the hallmarks of being a money spinning device using a time worn formula but sadly lacking in innovation or originality. It relies heavily upon an existing fan base of CoD players who will happily exchange one setting for another and if it had been offered as an expansion to CoD 4, at a more reasonable price I suspect it would have received a far greater accolade.

Verdict: It should have been CoD 4.5 - disappointing but acceptable.

SCORE 8.3

Graphics – 8.5/10
Sound/Music – 8.5/10
Controls – 8.5/10
Gameplay - 8/10
Replay Value - 8/10
